It’s February. And we’re in Portland for Google Places.

The first week of February this year, was a cold week in Portland, OR. We were there to begin shooting a series of short documentary style web spots, featuring local businesses for Google Places Portland.

Pacific Pie Company specializes in Australian style pies. They started by selling at the local farmers market. Demand was high, it’s a good meal for any time of the day. Sarah walked us through the pie making process, all handmade in their restaurant. They also source the ingredients from local farmers nearby. This was our first shoot, this is the director’s cut.

Here are three others (of 10) to highlight our experience in Portland.

Kenny & Zuke's Delicatessen is THE deli in downtown Portland, OR. Their line is always out the door and down the block for their pastrami, reputation and deli attitude. And if you have a vegan diet, Ken will have something for you (thank you Ken).

Clinton is a co-owner of A Better Cycle in Portland, OR. He took us through a complete overhaul of a bike, which is standard policy before they’ll sell a used bike.

Terry Currier is the owner of Music Millennium, a record shop in Portland, OR. This was shot in the short time we had with Terry, before the in-store concert began.

So the campaign is now rolling out, "Rate the places you love.". It’s a message to everyone who cares about local businesses, to go out and support them by leaving a comment on their service. It’s those good (or bad) marks that attracts others to come and check it out. – http://www.google.com/portland/business/
