Klout + Spotify

Our neighbors at Klout have hit the nail on the head offering Spotify accounts to existing Klout users and those who sign up. Spotify is the hot ticket item at the moment, and Klout has gained some serious, ahem, ‘klout’ for hopping on board.

Spotify is self described as being the “new way to listen to music”. That may be stretching it. Silicon Valley has been toying with the idea for quite some time and Lala’s purchase by Apple means mainstream saturation is right around the corner. After slow starts with Lala and Rdio I’ve been ‘eh’ about music streaming beyond Pandora. That being said, I’m already thrilled with Spotifys’ user interface and the features it’s offering. I downloaded the application to my computer and got setup in less than five minutes. I was playing the new Limp Bizkit album in no time flat! Just kidding! Stevie Nicks and Kanye were sharing a playlist like the fast friends I like to imagine they are.

Spotify satisfies both my love for sweet background office tunes, and on demand “MUST HEAR THAT SONG!” moments. The user interface is as easy as iTunes with a left hand column for organization and sharing and easy search bar. Browsing for new and related artists is far too simple and can be added to my list of weekend lazy time activities.

I’ve just gotten started but I’m excited to explore the playlist sharing features (fair warning to friends and family: Fleetwood Mac will be everywhere) and seeing if this is something that’s going to keep the tech worlds collective attention.
