Building Digital Competence in Romania

Gabriela Barna is the Founder and Director of Educating for an Open Society Foundation (EOS Romania), which supports digital inclusion in Romania. Her organization played a key part in important inclusion initiatives like Biblionet, which equipped over 2,200 libraries across the country with computer equipment and trained over 4,000 librarians, and the World Bank funded Knowledge Economy Project.

We talk with Barna about the role of education in e-inclusion strategies and learn about her organization’s work with the Digital Competencies Development Program (DCDS). We shadow a participant in one of the DCDS pilots, exploring their background and what they hope to achieve.
